Tri
Delta Mural
May 3, 2007 at Delta, Delta
House in Moscow, ID
The
Tri-Delta house wanted to brighten
the wall in their study area in the
basement. They decided
that a tile mural would be do the
trick. We had over 25
participants on Thursday night come
to paint tiles. We left the
painted tiles out so that the other
house members would see them and be
inspired to do one as well.
As students saw the other tiles, they would come in and
paint tiles between studying and
taking finals. Students told
Kim Castelin and Kirsten Lee that
they found painting the tiles a way
to relieve some of the stress during
finals.
I left the unpainted tiles and my supplies with Kim and
Kirsten. They taught the
students how the use the brushes and
glazes after the first party was
over and brought the tiles to my
garage/studio.

The
tiles before they were glazed and
fired.
Kim and
Kirsten helped me glaze and dry the
tiles before they were fired in the
kiln. Kim and Kirsten took
pottery lessons with me this
semester and learned How to throw on
the potter's wheel, how to make and
use glazes, and other techniques.

The finished tiles that will be
assembled into a mural at the
Tri-Delta house.
