Rug Hooking Workshop

Lizette Fife
taught a beginning rug hooking
workshop through the Community's
Personal Enrichment Classes program
at the Lewis-Clark State College
campus.

Participants
were able to learn the history and
basic principles involved in rug
hooking. Barbara Yochum
focused on exploring how each color
and texture interacted with one
another.

Design
concepts and principles were
discussed in addition to color
combinations, texture, and different
materials.

Burlap
foundations were used for the
sampler. Other foundations
were discussed based on their
strengths and weaknesses.
Miranda Anderson used a patriotic
theme for her design.

Deb Snyder
really enjoyed using the Rigby
fabric cutter to make her wool
strips.

Jimenez, Miranda Anderson, Karen
Schmidt, and Rachel Harder.

Karen Schmidt
chose to use the smaller cuts to
create her sampler.

The hooked rug
samplers created during the
workshop.
